In honor of the International Women‘s Day 2024

In honor of the International Women‘s Day 2024, Goethe-Institut will be hosting a film screening event centering different aspects of the female experience.

“Die Unbeugsamen” (2021, eng. The Unyielding”) is a documentary film directed by Torsten Körner. It tells the stories of women in the Federal Republic of Germany (“Bonn Republic”) that had to fight for their participation in the democratic decision-making processes within the male-dominated field of politics.
The screening will be followed by a discussion hosted by Elizabeth Johnson with filmmaker and professor Aseye Tamakloe, who directed the 2022 film “When Women Speak”. Just like “Die Unbeugsamen”, this documentary too reflects on women’s treatment and perspectives on the public political discourse.  Other participants are tbc yet.

The film can be watched here: When Women Speak (2022) - Full Documentary (youtube.com)

Prior to the film screening, Goethe-Institut has invited local female entrepreneurs that will present their businesses under the title “Women’s Startups” and give insights into the challenges and rewards that come with it.
The event will take place on March 8th, 5pm at the Goethe-Institut.
