The film tells the story of Mariam who returns to Burkina Faso after being adopted as a child and sent to South Africa, where she always felt displaced. Currently a young adult with health challenges, she returns to her native land to spend her last days in the country of her ancestors. However, she does not know the language and is unaware of the culture - and seeks to reconnect with her family and her roots.
