JULY 2019: "Story of a lion, who cannot write"

Die Geschichte vom Löwen, der nicht schreiben konnte © Verlagsgruppe BELTZ A roaring invitation for children to read and write

"The lion can't write, but that doesn't bother him, because he can roar and bare his teeth and that's enough. But one day he meets a lioness and she is very beautiful. And she is reading a book. You can't just kiss her. Such a lady expects a love letter first. So the lion asks the monkey to write for him. The monkey takes a pencil, paper and offers the lioness to climb trees and eat bananas with him. Complete nonsense! Irritated, the lion turns to the hippopotamus. Hippo instead asks the lioness to swim in the river with him and dive for algae... What the dung beetle, the vulture, the giraffe and the crocodile write to the lioness almost bursts the lion with rage. But rescue is approaching. Here comes the beautiful lioness..."

With humour and bite, Martin Baltscheit's story invites children to read and write. Children and adults will enjoy the beautiful illustration and simple story just alike. The book is recommended by a jury of experts from Saarländischer Rundfunk and Radio Bremen in the Children and Young Adults Book List.
