An extraordinary love story between two worlds: Hamburg artist Sophie travels to Taipei to come to terms with the sudden, unexplained death of her lover Ai-ling. A journalist latches onto her heels, seemingly obsessed with Ai-ling's fate, while the mysterious stranger does everything in her power to seduce Sophie. Inspired by Taiwan's rapid social and technological development alongside ancient Chinese culture, Monika Treut weaves a narrative that drifts between past and present. At its core lie Chinese ghost myths, where oppressed women become erotic, daring beings who follow their own desires and find a way to take revenge.
