Our Commitment to German

The Goethe-Institut works with schools, universities and education authorities to promote German as a foreign language, multilingualism and the culture of German-speaking countries. We support German language learning in Hong Kong, provide expertise and promote professional exchange through events and initiatives.

Educational Projects

  • Goethe Excellence Scholarship

    Become a winner and explore one of 12 vibrant German cities. By receiving the scholarship, you can participate in a 2 to 3-week German language programme in Germany, including flight and accomodation.

    In celebration of the German National Reading Day, the Goethe-Institut proudly presents the German Read-Aloud Festival HK to promote the interest in German literature among local students.

  • Study in Germany

    This website is jointly established by the German Consulate General , the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and the Goethe-Institut under the framework of the “Study in Germany” Campaign.

  • Practise German for free

    At the Goethe-Institut, you learn German from the pros. We have developed a range of free media to help you practise your German – from apps with learning material to videos, podcasts and games, as well as social media and community programmes. However well you speak German and whatever your reasons for improving it, the main thing is that you start practising – and enjoy it!

For Teachers and Education Institutions

  • Teacher Trainings

    We provide practically oriented training for German language teachers using approaches and formats that have been tried and tested all over the world. We offer both in-person and online training programmes.

  • PASCH Initiative

    The “Schools: Partners for the Future” (PASCH) initiative creates a global network of more than 2,000 PASCH schools with particular ties to Germany.
