The Goethe-Institut is pleased to introduce the German-Korean cellist Isang Enders, one of the most brilliant young talents in the chamber music scene. As a dedicated chamber musician, he continues to work closely with the pianist Igor Levit, with whom he has toured extensively, as well as Kit Armstrong and Sunwook Kim.
His highly-acclaimed and early recording of the Bach Cello Suites on Berlin Classics was a triumph. Isang Enders is signed to Berlin Classics and SONY Music Entertainment and plays an instrument by Jean Baptiste Vuillaume (Paris, 1840).
For our Facebook fans, here is why Isang Enders chose the cello as his performance instrument:
Isang Enders: when I was a child I used to sing in operas and I think the cello, after the horn, resembles quite a lot the range of the human voice. I found the cello a very sensual instrument that has much to do with the body. It gives you a feeling that you are dancing with your tango partner when playing the cello.
