Organised by the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, the first Hong Kong International Conducting Competition will be held in January 2018 to kick off the new year. Chosen from 310 applications from 49 countries/ regions, the 16 candidates will compete in Round 1 of the competition from 10 to 14 January 2018 at the Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall. Hong Kong Sinfonietta is the official orchestra of the competition.
Among the 17 candidates from the selection is German conductor Corinna Niemeyer (31). She has conducted renowned orchestras such as the Gürzenich Orchester Köln, Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg and Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra Tokyo. The Goethe-Institut is a partner in this competition, showing that we support international musical exchange and the education of the next generation of conductors. In the concerts of the selection rounds you could experience the best young talents at the podium!
Tickets to Round 1, Semi-Finals and Finals are now available at all URBTIX outlets. Programmes feature works by Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Schumann and more. Details: www.hkconducting.com/ticketing
