There are many years of good relations between the University of Stuttgart and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. There is a lively scientific exchange between students and professors. To reinforce this and to underpin it culturally, 70 young musicians from the University of Stuttgart set out on a journey to give concerts in Asia: in South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong. In Hong Kong they will visit the partner ensemble PolyU Orchestra and play music together.
The young musicians have packed a colorful programme of wonderful and virtuoso works, including Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's Italian Symphony and Prokofiev's Violin Concerto with the young and multi-award winning soloist Elene Meipariani.
The Academic Orchestra of the University of Stuttgart has more than 50 years of tradition. More than one hundred musicians, students and academics of all faculties remain partly connected to the orchestra after completing their studies. Regular tours take the orchestra to partner universities around the world. The current concert tour to Asia is made possible by a grant from the Goethe-Institut.
