The VR project “VRwandlung” is a combination of classic literature and modern technology. As a project initialed by the Goethe-Institut Prague, “VRwandlung” turns Franz Kafka’s “The Metamorphosis”, one of the most influential novella of the 20th century, into a virtual reality experience.
 
“As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect.” Now with VR technology you can wake up as a huge insect in a room faithfully reproduced after the original. “VRwandlung transfers Franz Kafka’s work from the pages of a book to virtual reality. The protagonist is no longer Gregor Samsa, but you”, explains Mika Johnson, the director who created the theme room with his young start-up team. During this 6 minutes experience, you as Gregor Samsa can explore the bed room, pull out some drawers and finds the key to unlock the door…once the door opens and the game ends.
