2017 German Film Award - Outstanding Children or Youth Film

Michi is unhappy in the children’s home in which he’s been housed since his mother died. He has no idea about the rest of his family. When the ten-year-old finds a letter from his mother to his presumed father, it offers him fresh hope. He tracks him down, but the man in no way resembles the image the boy has created of his parent. Tom, who himself has no idea he has a son, is a little person. This fact doesn’t escape the other children in the home: Michi becomes the target of their ridicule, endangering his relationship with Tom and leading an employee of the Youth Welfare Office to insist upon a paternity test.
