The Ensemble Sjaella are six female singers who share a passion for modern sacred and secular vocal music from different eras and cultures, as well as jazz and pop arrangements. They are open to new influences and have the courage to expand boundaries. Their repertoire is accordingly broad.
A colourful, precise sound, a love of musical diversity and their closeness to the audience have earned Sjaella invitations to renowned music festivals at home and abroad, concert tours to Poland, Finland, Italy and Jordan, among others, and appearances on radio and television. They won several 1st prizes at international competitions for vocal music.
For this concert, which spans a musical arc from the Renaissance to jazz, Sjaella invites us to the historic Auenkiche near Leipzig. What Napoleon has to do with it? Join the concert and find out!
"Sjaella" comes from Swedish and means "soul".
