Our GOETHE-FEST celebrates its 5th birthday! On this occasion, in cooperation with German National Tourist Board, we would like to invite our German course participants and friends of the German language and culture to our annual open day on Sunday, November 8th from 2 PM. to 7 PM. For the "birthday party" we have prepared a diverse program under the motto "Discover German and Germany". On the 13/F and 14/F of the Hong Kong Arts Centre and at the Open Space, all birthday guests big and small can sample the German language - both live and virtually – through games, crafts, experiments, music, workshops, performances, film screenings and competitions, and go on a trip through Germany and win great prizes.
At the Open Space in front of Hong Kong Arts Centre, our birthday party guests receive their first warm welcome with German food and drinks, German-related information and language games amid German music played by local Hong Kong DJs. At the Goethe-Booth you can take part in a German-Quiz and win wonderful prizes from the Goethe-Institut and from the German National Tourist Board. As grand prizes we are giving out language courses at Goethe-Institut in Germany and in Hong Kong. And don’t forget to take a vacation photo in front of a backdrop of popular German travel sights!
To pay tribute to the 250th Birthday of legendary German composer Ludwig von Beethoven, we have prepared a small performance of his most famous pieces at the foyer of Hong Kong Arts Centre.
In our Goethe-Gallery on 14/F, we invite our guests to a 360-degree tour of German museums and sights. In the Library, you can explore the most beautiful travel destinations and go on a virtual bike ride through German landscapes and cities. We have also prepared some tips for your next German trip. What’s more, you can sit next to Beethoven in virtual reality and see his performance up close!
In the Black Box, Professor Einstein and his assistant Sophie Schlau from the Digital Children University await curious visitors with a science show complete with exciting experiments. Short films from the Science Film Festival 2019/2020 will also be shown.
In our classrooms on the 13/F, children, teenagers and students can learn German through games, music and lessons in Workshops and Taster Courses. Information on German courses, study and working holiday opportunities in Germany will also be given out.
