Kids Cinema - THE BREMEN TOWN MUSICIANS (BY THE BROTHERS GRIMM)
Director: Dirk Regel | 2009 | 58 Mins | German with English Subtitles

"We'll find something better than death, no matter where!" say the donkey, dog, cat and rooster to themselves when their mistress Martha plans to make them into soup and sausage. They decide to seek their fortune as minstrels in the town of Bremen - and flee to freedom.

But they are not the only ones on the road to Bremen. Lissi loves Johann and Johann loves Lissi. But unfortunately Lissi is the farmer's daughter and Johann "only" the farm hand. Lissi's father, farmer Georg, and, above all, her stepmother Martha who wants to marry Lissi to the rich neighbouring farmer, are determined to prevent this love affair. When Johann is sent away from the farm, Lissi has no choice. Just like the animals she hopes to find something better than death, no matter where. Lissi follows her Johann to Bremen, and on the way she meets the animals. In search of a place to spend the night, they arrive at the house of a gang of robbers. There the Bremen Town Musicians test their singing talents with resounding success: they drive away the robbers and reunite the lovers. When Lissi and Johann discover chests full of gold in the robbers' house, their fate takes yet another turn. Now they can get married. The animals give them the treasure, for they have found something more precious than gold - their friendship.
