Goethe-Institut Hongkong is pleased to present a series of programmes under the topic of "The Body and The City" from August to October this year. The programmes include an exhibition, film screenings, a community-oriented performative work and two workshops that bring participants to encounter public spaces of Wan Chai. The name of the workshops is Play 4 Laboratory.

Concept of Play 4 Laboratory:
During the pandemic, many cities were locked down, streets became deserted for months, and people were physically disconnected from each other and from their cities. Avoiding directly touching public facilities, many would use various tools to press buttons or push door handles in public space. These tools may help us stay away from germs and virus, but, at the same time, distance and disconnect us from our surroundings. The current project attempts to develop different playful tools to help us re-enter our city in the post-pandemic era with our long-forgotten sensitivities.

Open days of ‘Play 4 Laboratory’ - Open for public to visit and interact:
18-28 August, 2021: Mon - Fri: 3-8pm,  Sat: 1-6pm
Free admission and free walk-in. No registration is required.

In the current laboratory experiment, C&G invites the audience to help transform cubes to spheres, in order to connect the Way of Heaven and the Way of Earth together. We believe when such a miracle happens, Hong Kong’s Lo Ting spirits will come alive to reconnect our beings with our city. Audience members are welcome to follow instructions to interact with various elements in the lab, and to give feedbacks to the artists for improvement.
