Within the framework of the first East Asia German Teacher Conference, held on 29 and 30 October 2016 in Hong Kong, the Goethe-Institut invites German teachers at schools, technical colleges, tertiary institutions, universities and other educational institutions to take part in the competition “My digital German lesson” (“Meine digitale Deutschstunde”) and submit their ideas for a modern German lesson.
 
Applicants are asked to formulate a design concept for a German lesson with the aid of the free-of-charge . For the most practice- and action-oriented entries, the Goethe-Institut will award a total of 80 scholarships to the candidates from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau to attend the first East Asia German Teacher Conference.
 
The best entries will be shortlisted and presented by their authors at the German Teacher Conference. At the conference, the winners will be named and awarded with the following prizes:
 
1st Prize: a scholarship to attend the (Internationale Deutschlehrertagung) in Fribourg/Switzerland.
2nd Prize: a scholarship to attend a training seminar at the Goethe-Institut in Germany.
3rd Prize: a scholarship to attend an online course for a module of the training programme “Deutsch lehren lernen”.
 
The authors of the 4th – 10th best entries will receive a media package of the Goethe-Institut

The application documents must be submitted in German. Applicants must have attained at least the B2 level in German under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Only German teachers who are employed by or paid by an educational institution in China at the moment can take part in the competition.

Procedure:
From all the submitted entries, 80 of the most practice- and action-oriented ideas will be selected. The authors of these entries will be invited to attend the first East Asia German Teacher Conference. Only the teaching idea will be evaluated. Implementation is preferable, but not mandatory.  The invited German teachers will receive an allowance for their travel costs and accommodation from the Goethe-Institut.
 
The authors of the ten best teaching ideas will be asked to introduce their concepts with a 5-minute presentation at the German Teacher Conference. An expert panel will then choose three winners out of them according to the following criteria: professionality and creativity, sustainability, intercommunication and visibility.
