Artist-farmer Lo Lai Lai Natalie has been added an extra burden from 2023 - presiding over her PhD studies with a constant shifting on the farming and artistic practice. In her first-ever lecture performance, she recounts her unexpected journey into essay filmmaking - a realization that emerged through a retrospective examination of her works since 2016. What began as an intuitive exploration of self in public spaces has evolved into a body of work that embodies what film scholars describe as "the essayistic" - that liminal space where personal encounter meets public discourse.

Her films naturally gravitate toward perplexing intersections between private and public domains, provocative questioning of established narratives, and continuous self-interrogation. Through this presentation, she invites audiences to witness her thoughts on the hidden dynamics between human and non-human species as she reflects on her artistic and farming practices. Her work demonstrates a form of self-negation, where personal expression serves as a vehicle for broader social dialogue, weaving literary texts and curating relationships between images, literature, and sound.

Moving beyond didactic narratives, welcomes constellations of ideas in her re-negotiation process. Her work gives voice to the unspoken, from the perspectives of flora and fauna to hidden voices in oppressed societies, creating interconnected narratives that challenge conventional cinematic forms.
