Germany is considered one of the countries with a particularly strong vocational training (Ausbildung) system. It offers a wide variety of apprenticeship programs—ranging from high-tech industries to jobs in environmental protection and conservation. The training programs combine theoretical knowledge gained in vocational schools with practical work experience in a company. Depending on the chosen career path, the training lasts between two and three and a half years. A particularly attractive feature is that trainees (short “Azubis”) receive a monthly stipend during their training.
The stories of the two PASCH alumni from our seminar illustrate just how diverse the training opportunities in Germany are: Afif offers insights into the world of modern technology through his training as a plastics and rubber technologist. This is a profession that requires a high degree of precision and in-depth knowledge of materials technology.
Novya takes us into the world of nature and talks about her training as an ornamental plant gardener. There, she learns both about the beauty of plants and the specifics of caring for them. Two different paths that have one thing in common: promising career prospects and the opportunity to build an independent life in Germany.
To pursue vocational training (Ausbildung) in Germany, you generally need German language skills at least at the B1/B2 level, as well as careful preparation of the required documents. A relevant educational background or strong motivation for the chosen vocational training program can also be a significant advantage. The seminar is aimed at anyone who would like to learn more about the diverse career opportunities in Germany through vocational training.
