Social media has become one of the main platforms where young people share Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage. However, much of this content disappears quickly in the fast-moving digital landscape and is rarely preserved as a lasting resource for future generations.

This session introduces the basics of copyright, open licences and the responsible use of digital media. Participants will learn how to find openly licensed content and contribute their own photos and documentation to Wikimedia Commons.

Through hands-on digital storytelling, participants will discover how openly licensed media can be transformed into engaging cultural stories that preserve local heritage, reach wider audiences, and contribute to shared knowledge online.
