From the sea and mountains back to land! Join resident artists Mutia Bunga and Ayomi Amindoni, together with Raka Ibrahim and Rassi Narika from Arka Kinari for an Artist Talk exploring the connections between ocean narratives, climate memory, and island communities.

Drawing on their two-week sailing residency across the Mediterranean Sea aboard Arka Kinari and its continuation among coastal island communities in Ambon, the conversation brings together experiences from different island contexts and reflects on the relationships between people, water, and place. The talk offers a space to share perspectives on the sea and coastal areas as a carrier of memory, a source of connection, and part of our shared future.

This session will be moderated by Kiki Nasution (founder of Sabda Bumi).

ABOUT BETWEEN THE MOUNTAIN AND THE SEA
Since early this year, Goethe-Institut Indonesien has initiated "Between the Mountain and the Sea", a residency programme developed in collaboration with Arka Kinari. Since March 2026, Mutia Bunga and Ayomi Amindoni have been the artists in residence aboard Arka Kinari, a sailing ship transformed into a floating cultural space by musicians Filastine & Nova. Sailing across the Indonesian and Southeast Asian archipelagos, the ship connects coastal communities through artistic encounters around environmental and cultural sustainability.

From Cirebon and Mount Ciremai in Kuningan to the Mediterranean Sea and Ambon Manise, Mutia have gathered stories and impressions along the way. Their stop at GoetheHaus Jakarta will be one of the final stops of the journey, offering a glimpse of their coastal encounters before the project’s final presentation in early 2027.
