In 2020, the exchange between German and South Asian schools began within the framework of the VITAMINT-Exchange project. The project, which was initiated by the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan New Delhi and was created for the first time in digital format in cooperation with MINT Zukunft schaffen, aimed at the exchange of ideas on STEM-relevant topics, the expansion of specialist vocabulary and intercultural exchange, could now be carried out in the present form fron 30.10.2022-05.11.2022.

The project was supported by the PAD and the German Embassy in New Delhi.

For the first time, 23 students and 6 teachers from Germany arrived in India to work on STEM topics with 42 Indian students and 8 teachers in a camp and to learn from each other. The result was an intensive exchange on sustainability strategies in both countries. In different groups, for example, the construction of a water filter was designed and implemented, an investigation of the effect of UV rays on plants was presented, brain activity in different phases of the state of mind was measured and conclusions drawn about the productivity of thinking performance, and considerations about sustainable landscape architecture were made in both countries.

In the afternoon, the groups went on joint excursions into nature, took part in various games and practised Indian, German and Austrian dances and songs together, which were presented with great enthusiasm at a final cultural event.

It was a full week of diverse exchange experiences that the young people were able to take away with them. For two of the German schools, the stay in India will be extended by another week, because then they will go to the school of the Indian partner school, where they will continue to work on the STEM exchange and strengthen friendships between German and Indian students.
