    UTORO Art Festival 2025 at Villa Kamogawa

    Inspired by the stories of movement and daily life of those who have built a community in the Utoro district of Uji City in Kyoto prefecture, as a new place to live, the Utoro Art Festival 2025 will be held under the theme of ‘Migration, Habitation and Hope – Life between Lands and Continets’.

    To mark the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and South Korea, the KIKA cas gallery in Kyoto, which showcases the latest scene of contemporary art, will hold a solo exhibition by Seoul-based South Korean artist Bona Park.

    Suiteki

    An exhibition entitled ‘Suiteki (Water Drops)’, a collaboration between the former Villa Kamogawa scholarship holder (2018), Frankfurt-based designer Kai Linke, and Takahiko Sato, the fourth-generation urushi lacquer craftsman representing the lacquer manufacturer Sato Kiyomatsu Shoten from Nishijin in Kyoto, is taking place in the entrance hall of Yanmar's headquarters in Osaka.

    The film, which was released to great acclaim in Japan in 2016, is a European thriller about the real-life organization Colonia Dignidad, which was founded by a German emigrant in Chile in 1961 and has been the scene of repeated human rights violations for over 40 years, including assaults, sexual abuse and forced labor.

    MORNING TIME" is a co-production by Berlin-based artist and performer Belle Santos and Kyoto-based Japanese dancer and choreographer Emi Ogura. MORNING TIME" is about the appropriate place and time for "mourning".
