We promote cultural exchange, education and social discourse

We foster bilateral cultural exchange programs between Germany and Namibia. We initiate film series, exhibitions, concerts, seminars and festivals, always with the goal to facilitate artistic production, reception and reflection involving actors from both countries.

Science Film Festival 2026

The Science Film Festival 2026 takes place in multiple countries from October 1 to December 20, celebrating the best in international science communication. This year, the festival explores how Artificial Intelligence is reshaping our world while raising critical questions about its ethical, social, and environmental impact. The call for entries is now open until March 15, 2026. Submit your films using our online application or the SFF FilmFreeway page. Please read the guidelines for detailed information before submission. Don’t miss the opportunity to be part of this global celebration of science communication!

CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Thought pieces on “Cultural exchange”

For decades, the Goethe-Institut has characterized its activities as “cultural exchange.” However, the adequacy of this metaphor warrants critical scrutiny, as it may not fully capture the actual mandate of such agencies. We invite internationally recognized scholars, intellectuals, and activists to contribute thought pieces reflecting on the term “cultural exchange” from their respective disciplinary vantage points.
