In 2015, the United Nations adopted the “Treaty on the Future of the World” (Transforming our world: 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development). The 17 goals, which were formulated as part of the treaty, contain changes for the better for the world and the future, for all people in all walks of life.
These 17 goals encourage companies, institutions, educational organizations and ordinary people to change, make the world a better place to live, and protect resources. Children can also contribute to making our world a better, friendlier place. Nowadays, they can exchange ideas with children around the world - even in a foreign language.
Some of the goals include topics that are well-suited for learning a foreign language. Today, we know that working with content, especially from the fields of science and technology, has a very positive effect on children’s language learning. Along with that, for children the particular focus is on content. They rely on the knowledge they gain rom everyday life, or their school lessons. And at the same time - in their spare time - they learn a new language.
