Arsalan Isa: In Conversation with José Oliver at the KLF 2018

“José Oliver is one of the most “important poets of his generation in Germany” (El Mercurio, Santiago de Chile), and one of the most significant inter-cultural writers of German language today. Invited by the Goethe-Institut, he will read from his recently translated collection “Sandscript”, followed by a conversation with literary critic and writer Arsalan Isa.
The German-Spanish poet has published more than 14 volumes of poetry, and has received numerous awards. In 1997 he was awarded with the Adalbert-von-Chamisso-Preis, the most prestigious award for an inter-cultural author in Germany. He was also guest professor and writer-in-residence at MIT (2002), and at the University of Warwick, UK (2007).

Arsalan Isa is a writer, critic, and photographer. He holds a BA in Literature and an MA in Philosophy, Birkbeck College, University of London. He has previously lived and worked in London, San Francisco, and in Lahore. He specialises in literary and art criticism. He also consults as an editor and creative director. His most recent exhibition (October, 2017) was in conjunction with the Creative Process Collective and the group show was titled ‘Of Other Spaces’. His first novel is forthcoming. He is also compiling a poetry collection and a photography book. He currently resides in Karachi.
