Performance & Sound – A Response to Crisis
Led by Nadir Sönmez & Pascal Klewer
Hosted by Goethe-Institut Ankara
5-day workshop | Dates 31.10.25-4.11.25
How can musicians and theatre-makers engage with the urgent challenges of our time?
This interdisciplinary workshop, led by playwright Nadir Sönmez and musician Pascal Klewer, invites 4 musicians and 8 performers to explore performance and music as active responses to ecological and social crises.
Based on “Libido” — a play by Sönmez about the role and responsibility of artists — the workshop creates a space for experimentation, improvisation, and collaboration. It merges sound design, free improvisation, and theatre-based text work, culminating in a public concert-lecture performance.
Over five days, participants will engage in:
• Practical performance and sound exercises
• Group improvisations across disciplines
• Critical conversations about the ethics of creation
• Insights into funding, visibility, and sustainable artistic practices
