​​​​​​​Art historian, writer, passionate teacher and mother of two children, Ruth has made exhibitions since the 1990s. Notable shows co-curated with Roger M. Buergel are Things We Don’t Understand (2000), The Government (2000-2005) and documenta 12 (2007). Amongst recent exhibitions are Notes on Crisis, Currency and Consumption (2015) and Sleeping with a Vengeance, Dreaming of a Life, a series of exhibitions shown in Athens, Prague, Beijing and at Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart (2019-20). Teaching and lecturing internationally for two decades, Ruth headed the Curating Contemporary Art Program at the Royal College of Art in London (2012/13) and lead a Roaming Academy class at the Dutch Art Institute (2015-2019). Ruth is also known for the aesthetic approach she takes to organising symposia.
