No Justice No Peace
Aram Han Sifuentes: Protest Banner Lending Library
This exhibition is a part of Sifuentes’s ongoing project, Protest Banner Lending Library, which started in Chicago on November 8, 2016, the day after the 2016 elections. More than 3,000 banners have been made in workshops, and there are Protest Banner Lending Libraries in cities all over the United States and internationally that house more than 600 banners. The banners on exhibition are part of an active ongoing project where banners are constantly circulating, being checked out, used, and returned.
Aram Han Sifuentes will participate the Frequencies. Sharing Feminisms. festival in Berlin in the opening discussion Feminist Resistance Through the Arts on 19 May 2022, at 7 pm (CEST), at the Pfefferberg Theater with Nabila Horakhsh and Urvashi Butalia.
Aram will also conduct a 90-minute protest banner workshop on 21 May 2022, from 2- 3:30 pm (CEST)
Solo exhibitions of her work have been presented at the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum, Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago Cultural Center, Pulitzer Arts Foundation, currently at moCa Cleveland, and the Skirball Cultural Center. Aram has received numerous awards including Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship, Map Fund, 3Arts Award and Next Level Award.
