Residency programmes

The Goethe-Institut Vietnam promotes art and culture in all areas. We support professionals, young talent and amateurs in carrying out residencies and projects at home and abroad.

The funding criteria, the application period and the type of funding depend on the respective projects.

The institute often collaborates with other institutions and foundations in Germany to bring artists to Vietnam. These artists may be suggested by our partners or come from existing projects. We also work with local partners to organize their activities in Vietnam and create a meaningful and in-depth impact on the local cultural scenes.

Residency scholarships in China and Vietnam

In cooperation with the Goethe Institutes in Beijing and Hanoi, the Cultural Foundation annually offers two three-month scholarships. The aim of the two residency programs is to expand artistic and cultural exchange with Vietnam and China. The application deadline is July 1st for a scholarship in the following year.

Ecological Futures

An international long-run project for ecological and social transformation. The project is an initiative by the Goethe-Institut and ARCH+, deals with ecological and social challenges by bringing together actors from urban practice, art and culture, and neighborhood residents. In collaboration with Spreepark Art Space, a new residency format is being developed for 2026–27. We are pleased to announce that the Hanoi artist Đặng Thùy Anh is currently participating as an artist-in-residence.
