Migration

Migration is a global phenomenon, the causes of which range from flight due to war or climate crisis to self-determined mobility in work and education. Germany is considered an immigration society. Migration has shaped the country's society and culture for decades. German artists with a family history of immigration succeed in building bridges with their contributions and enriching cultural life with new perspectives.

A self-confident second generation of young Viet Germans is contributing to a new, strong visibility of the German-Vietnamese community and its issues. Outstanding personalities in the fields of journalism, literature, science and business are children of Vietnamese immigrant families.

The Goethe-Institut Vietnam would like to bring German artists with a family history of immigration from Vietnam, but also from other countries of origin such as Turkey or Syria, into dialog with local artists and make their artistic perspectives and themes shaped by migration accessible to a broad audience.
