Pham Khac Quang presents portraits and landscapes created with a special technique of relief printing.

Goethe-Institut Hanoi

Years of working on woodcuts have cultivated a special affinity for the practice of reduction printing in Pham Khac Quang. This technique works with multiple colors, but only one printing plate. After printing one color, the plate is further processed and the next color is applied so that more and more of the printing plate is removed. With the drilling machine, Quang cuts circular holes into the plate and in this way creates impressive works, some of which are only recognizable from the distance.

The exhibition Shape of Round is a selection of very personal works by the artist, portraying his family, but also showing landscapes that are dear to him - for Pham Khac Quang, they are the result of all the happy and sad moments in his life.

An artist talk and workshop with Pham Khac Quang will take place on February 25 at 3 PM. Pham will give an introduction to relief printing and demonstrate his technique with his own materials and tools. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own prints. A registration isn’t necessary.

Pham Khac Quang, born in 1975 in Hai Duong, studied at the Vietnam University of Fine Arts in Hanoi. His works were not only exhibited in Vietnam, but also internationally, for instance in China, Denmark and Belgium. Pham Khac Quang lives and works in Hanoi.
