Bamanye Yeko

Bamanye Yeko Born in Ginsberg, Eastern Cape in 1981 Bamanye Yeko has a National Diploma in Speech and Drama (Lovedale College. He has further attended Sound and Lighting at the Guild Theatre and a Lighting Master Class at Arts Cape. He then worked as a Stage Manager at Guild Theatre and Opera House. A venue technician at the National Arts festival from 2002 – 2019 where he specialised in setting up and operating lighting for various shows. Bamanye also worked as Technical Director at the Steve Biko Centre, Institute for Creative Arts (UCT Hidding Campus), Johannesburg Art Fair, Dance PEI (ReUnion Island), Makukhanye Art Room (Khayelitsha) and Theatre Arts Admin.

He has practised as a Lighting Designer for award winning thespians such as Chuma Sopotela, Mandla Mbothwe, and Jason Jacobs. Furthermore Bamanye specialised in Dance shows choreographed by Mzo Gasa, Themba Mbuli, Jackie Manyapeelo, Makentosh and Yaseen at the Design Indaba. Since 2012 Bamanye Yeko has embarked on an international journey as a Lighting Designer and Stage Manager for shows such as Biko`s Quest in Mozambique, Satisfaction Index in Zimbabwe 2015, Ashed Tour in Switzerland 2016 and in Germany 2017, Sold in West Germany 2017 and Russia 2018 also in 2018 he did a Lwanda Sindaphi show in France. In 2021 Bamanye toured France with Sopotela’s play, Inkukhu Ibeki Qanda and was part of the lighting and technical team of the FIFA Arab Cup in Qatar late 2021.
