Scholarship Opportunity STEM Scholarship for Women
Science and Research are an important part of the Australian-German cooperation. Both countries consider it an important priority to raise the level of women in STEM. Bringing talented young women into STEM fields is crucial to support continuing research and innovation in Germany.
This scholarship provides the opportunity for two emerging female researchers to conduct a 4-6-week, work-based internship at a prominent innovation institution in Germany. Its aim is to promote excellence in STEM research and innovation by providing a career pathway and mentorship for a promising female scientist or innovator thus celebrating the valuable and growing contribution made by women to this field.
It is open to female graduates under the age of 35 who are completing or have completed a post-graduate degree across any area of STEM. Applicants will be asked to participate in a pitch competition and present their research project, initiative or business idea to a high-calibre jury and the general public.
The two successful applicants will be awarded A$10,000 each to cover the cost of flights, accommodation and per diems. In addition, she will be offered the opportunity to participate in a German language course at the Goethe-Institut before the commencement of the internship.
Selection criteria:
Currently enrolled in university
Currently a postdoc
Received a Master’s degree no more than 7 years ago or
Received a PhD no more than 5 years ago

The STEM Internship is organised by the Goethe-Institut Australia and funded through Friends of Goethe.
