Dirk Kurbjuweit is deputy editor-in-chief at Germany's most important political magazine Der Spiegel and has received numerous awards, including the Egon Erwin Kisch Prize for journalism. In addition, he is the author of eight critically acclaimed books, including his latest thriller, Fear.
 
At Melbourne Writers Festival, Dirk Kurbjuweit will meet another renowned journalist and novelist: Tony Jones is well known for his role hosting the political talk show QandA on ABC TV.
 
In his latest thriller Fear, Kurbjuweit tells a story that reveals how fast our confidence in the state of law can be shaken up, raising the question whether it is justifiable to take the law into our own hands in order to protect the people we love.
