Following the devastating effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the cultural and educational sector worldwide, the German Foreign Office and the Goethe-Institut launched the International Relief Fund for Cultural and Educational Organisations in 2020.
The evening of 19 March 2022 will be an opportunity to discover the three structures in the sub-region that have benefited from this aid fund and to allow the general public to discover in an artistic way what uses have been made of it.

About HILFSFOND

The International Relief Fund for Cultural and Educational Organisations is an initiative of the Goethe-Institut, the Federal Foreign Office and various partners.

The funds were made available for structural maintenance, for investments and for the expansion of digitalisation. This enabled cultural and educational centres in Africa, the Middle East, Central and South-East Asia, and Central and South America to continue their cultural and educational work, to reconnect with their audiences and thus to continue to make their contribution to artistic freedom, open discourse and social diversity. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has increased the budget to 6 million euros. Further funding was provided by the Robert Bosch Foundation, the S. Fischer Foundation and other donations. This allowed the amount of individual funding to be increased to 30,000 euros and the funding period to be extended to six months.

Maison de la culture et de la danse

"Maison de la culture et de la danse" is a cultural establishment located in Douala in Bali. It was created in March 2017 by dancers and choreographers Chantal Gondang and Sarah Laredo who are also the artistic directors. With to the funding received, they intensify their programmes throughout the year 2021. For this closing event, the Remissis company and the Chantal Gondang company will present their latest creations: "(des)illusions" and "Le Cri du Silence" on Saturday 19.03.2022 at 19:00 at Goethe-Institut (free admission).
