On Saturday, July 23 at 2pm, “The Hostage", the dramatic poem by Friedrich Schiller, a German literary classic, will be re-enacted in the Black Box Studio of the Goethe-Institut Hong Kong.

Why learn about Schiller now? The great German dramatist Schiller died more than 200 years ago but is still as relevant today as he was then. His dramatic text is about the rejection of all tyranny, and the unshakeable bonds of wonderful friendships - unbreakable even by the hatred of ugly despots.

Loyalty and friendship - the great values Schiller - will be spoken and acted by students of the C-1 class of the Goethe-Institut.

Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller (born November 10, 1759 in Marbach am Neckar, Württemberg; died † 9 May 1805 in Weimar), was a German poet, philosopher and historian.
