Game producer and graphic designer Yan Wong has been working in the Hong Kong video game industry for 20 years ever since he graduated from City University’s computer science department. From arcades, single player PC games, console games, to MMORPG, theme park games and mobile games. He witnessed the ups and downs over the years, and finally founded his own game in 2018 – Heaven Travel.
Two years ago, the game was shipped, and ever since then it gradually gained global popularity. Players from all over the world volunteered to help with translation. Now the game is available in more than ten languages, including: English, Russian, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Thai, French, Arabic, German, Japan, Korea, Italy and Turkish. Heaven Travel was nominated multiple times in indie game awards worldwide. It has been downloaded by more than 650,000 people, and received more than 10,000 comments.
The game adopts a dreamlike style with the texture of crayon paintings to build a unique and mesmerizing world. The protagonist, a little girl, needs to save a memory tree. She found herself in many adventures to collect memory fragments, and unveil more and more realities. Yan Wong waves his own ideas and dreams into the game, in hope of expressing his thoughts on life.
Game Kitchen is very honored to have Yan Wong to share the game history that he witnessed, and the experience of game production and management.
