Dance Fusion is an emergent interdisciplinary practice combining improvisation, modern styling, connected dance, and musicality for both beginners to awaken their hidden talents of movement and for the intermediate movement artist to reach out beyond their own narrow discipline to improvise in a space they have yet to, but is not afraid to, explore.

There will be a guided tour to the exhibition "Light Up" in the Goethe-Gallery and Black Box Studio by the exhibition curator right after the workshop.

Instructor: Ray LC

   © Ray LC Hong Kong-based artist and choreographer RAY LC creates interactions and environments for building bonds between human beings and between humans and machines, by utilizing the nonverbal communication media of movements, sounds, and cinematic storytelling. He performed professionally in Tokyo, Japan in the Dance Fusion, Latin, and ball-room communities before investigating the way technology affects performance and its perception in New York in works for the New Museum (VR dance), DeConstrukt (wearable music generation), and Elektron Tallinn (online-performance). He is currently Assistant Professor of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong.

RAY’s exhibitions include BankArt, Process Space LMCC, New York Hall of Science, Saari Residence, Elektra Montreal, ArtLab Lahore, Ars Electronica Linz, NeON Digital Arts Festival, New Museum, Angewandte Festival, JCCAC, Osage Gallery, Hong Kong Arts Centre. He has been funded by National Science Foundation, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Adobe Design Award, Microsoft Imagine Cup, Davis Peace Foundation, Kone Foundation, NY Foundation for the Arts, Hong Kong Arts Development Council.
