The Goethe-Institut for me is a place for sharing knowledge, stories and experiences. Here I learn from inspiring teachers and am supported by friends. The Goethe-Institut was the beginning of my German language journey.

Florence Limahelu

German teacher since 2000, SMA YPPK Agustinus Sorong
Florence Limahelu

The Goethe-Institut is one of the best things in my life. I can’t quantify how much knowledge and guidance I have received, how much material was given to me to deepen my understanding both linguistically and didactically. Without the Goethe-Institut, I might not have come this far in my career as a German teacher. A big thank you to the Goethe-Institut from me personally and the pupils in my school. May the Goethe-Institut remain successful and continue to support learning German in Indonesia.

Yulius Tandyanto

Course participant 2017-2019, doctoral candidate at Nietzsche Research Center, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg

For me, the Goethe-Institut is like an important oasis that is very useful for travelers through life, helping them prepare themselves individually in this area for their next adventure. At the Goethe-Institut, enthusiastic adventurers are able to meet people with their own dreams, which perhaps would hardly be possible if this well-kept oasis and its dedicated staff did not exist. All in all, the presence of the Goethe-Institut is of great importance for Indonesian society—may it continue to be an oasis for all thirsty travelers!

For me, the Goethe Institut in Indonesia is more than a cultural center that provides Indonesians with information on German culture, language, society and politics. Rather, it takes an active interest in the lives and careers of Indonesian cultural workers—in film and visual arts, literature and performing arts—and engages with them on a human level. It is a friend and partner, not merely a conduit for cultural exchange.

The Goethe-Institut is a window of knowledge through which you can watch world cinema. It is an arena of cultural exchange, especially with regard to the cinema culture firmly anchored in Jakarta, thanks to its versatile programs from its beginnings at the Matraman location to the current location on Jl. Sam Ratulangi.

Congratulations on the 60th year of the Goethe-Institut Indonesien! For APISI, the Goethe-Institut is a perfect partner in terms of promoting the important roles of both school libraries and manpower. In addition, the Goethe-Institut supports what has been a concern in education here in Indonesia by promoting reading and literacy. This was reflected when BKD and PASCH invited us to be their partner in conducting school library workshops. This also can be seen in one of its remarkable libraries in Jakarta! Such a treasured experience to work with you, Goethe-Institut!
