A variety of classical masterpieces directed by concert master Bogdan Božović 

Founded by Karl Münchinger in 1945, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra has held a prominent
position in the international orchestral world for some seven decades. Münchinger, who was principal conductor of the orchestra for over 40 years attracted élite players to realise his vision of a completely new and exemplary way of interpreting works by Johann Sebastian Bach and the Viennese classicists.  
 
Since more than 70 years with its unique tradition as cultural ambassadors of Stuttgart, Baden-Wuerttemberg and Germany, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra is widely regarded as one of the finest chamber orchestras, famous for its colourful and virtuoso sound. Innumerable concert performances around the globe and participation in the top international music festivals have been the hallmark of the high quality and the outstanding reputation of the ensemble. It plays around 90 concerts a year all over the world together with the most famous artistic partners. Great importance is given by the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra also to its engagement with local educational institutions.
 
For its exceptional achievements, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra was awarded the 2008 European Chamber Music Prize by the European Cultural Foundation. The Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra is supported by the Land Baden-Wuerttemberg, the City of Stuttgart and the company Robert Bosch GmbH.
 
Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra looks back on a long India-tradition: The orchestra will be in 2019 for the fifth time in India. The concert programme includes a variety of classical masterpieces: Under the direction of concert-master Bogdan Božović the SCO will play works of German composers Bach and Brahms as well as the world premiere of ‘Vistar’, a commissioned work of the renowned Indian composer Sandeep Bhagwati.
