Thomas Mann: Two film adaptations of his works to mark the 150th anniversary of his birth

Thomas Mann was born 150 years ago, as one of the most important German writers of the 20th century. A Nobel Prize winner and political commentator, he left behind a lasting literary legacy. To mark the 150th anniversary of his birth, the Goethe-Institut is showing three film adaptions of his work with following discussions.

Two film adaptations of his works will be shown first: Buddenbrooks (Germany 1923, 105 minutes, Gehard Lamprecht) and Lotte in Weimar (GDR 1975, 119 minutes, Egon Günther).

Please note: Death in Venice (1971) will follow at a later date. In addition, a special music event is planned that will explore the work in a unique way – further details will be announced soon.
