KinoFest
2025
KinoFest continued the tradition with a curated lineup of six award-winning German films and one Malaysian film, each followed by a moderated discussion with distinguished Malaysian practitioners and cultural commentators. The festival highlighted bold voices that reflect contemporary issues while drawing connections between German and Malaysian contexts.
This year's festival was held at FCA Cinema, MMU Cyberjaya with free admission, in celebration of KOMFIT’s 10th Anniversary.

About the curatorial theme
Family: Extended
This year’s program explored the evolving idea of family in today’s world. Moving beyond traditional notions, the films present family as fluid and shaped by labour, care, history, and emotion. Stories ranged from intimate dramas to surreal allegories, touching on motherhood as both strength and anxiety, the often-invisible world of care work, and the darker tensions hidden within familial bonds. The program challenged audiences to rethink family not as a fixed ideal, but as a space of complexity, contradiction, and transformation.
