‘Against The Messy World’, a short documentary directed by Aw See Wee, which was commissioned by the institute in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Goethe-Institut Malaysia in 2022, has been invited by Kapsul Studio and Galeri Kotak Seni in Kota Bahru for a screening on the 09 March 2024 at 8:30pm. After the screening, it will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Haziqah Azemi together with several Kelantan-based artists which the film director Aw See Wee will also participate. The screening is organized in conjunction of Pasar Cik Siti, a 3-day event to celebrate the Visit Kelantan Year and International Women’s Day.
‘Against this Messy World’ is a deeply introspective and visually captivating short documentary that delves into the heart and soul of artistic expression within Malaysia’s complex political and societal landscape. A personal exploration, narrated by Malaysian artists, this documentary takes viewers on an evocative journey to understand the essence and purpose of being an artist in a world marked by chaos and uncertainty and piece together conversations and unfiltered moments in their lives.
