Photography by visually impaired

Goethe-Institut Namibia

A photographic exhibition produced by visually impaired persons during walks through the cities they reside in: Vienna (Austria), Caracas (Venezuela) and Windhoek (Namibia). Communication and Social Designer, Laschandre Coetzee, heads the Blind Photography Project in Namibia.

Each photograph or set of photographs is presented with text in braille that tells the story behind the art work. A photograph’s communication is not effective without the text and vice versa.

The Blind Photography Project aims to explore new ways of looking at a city and bridge the gap between the visually impaired and everyone else. Collaborating with Coetzee is architect and photographer Alejandro Loreto from Venezuela. Loreto started the project in 2016.
