The Goethe-Institut offers a range of scholarships to Germany: Included in the target groups for these scholarships are teachers, teacher trainees and people in key positions in the education sector. There are scholarships to language courses at a Goethe-Institut in Germany and to professional development seminars for teachers of German. 

Language course scholarships

Teachers of German can apply for a scholarship to a four or eight week German Language Course at a Goethe-Institut in Germany. 

Scholarships to professional development seminars in germany

There are professional development seminars for teachers at primary, secondary and tertiary institutions. In addition to the chance to experience life in Germany, applicants can select from topics including current issues, modern media, Europe and a range of cultural aspects.

Foreign language assistantship programme

This programme offers young graduates the chance to live and work in Germany.

Ministry of Education Immersion Awards

The New Zealand Ministry of Education has contracted AFS to organise in-country immersion programmes. This is often done in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut.
