Founded in 2014, TanzFaktur is an independent arts venue promoting contemporary dance, theatre, and dance education. We work at a local, national and international level bringing the best of these disciplines to local audiences. Since 2019 our work focuses on dance and theatre performances, somatic and physical practices, academic ties, professional development, mixed able bodies, physical theatre, and new circus. TanzFaktur hosts and cooperates with Hochschule für Musik und Tanz, and Deutsche Sporthochschule dance department in the city of Cologne.
The residency seeks to collaborate with two choreographers, dance makers, practitioners, or researchers who have a keen interest in socially engaged practices, as a means to foster collaboration. The aim is to make meaningful impact, facilitate exchange experiences, and strengthen their respective work. During the residency, the participants will develop at least one shared programme with the TanzFaktur communities. The format of the programme, whether it be a workshop, lab, lecture performance, shared programme, or any other suitable format, as well as its content, should authentically reflect and represent the participant's artistic approach and focus.
To be eligible for residency with TanzFaktur, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Based in Indonesia, Malaysia, or the Philippines. Priority will be given to applicants residing outside capital cities and major art hubs such as Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Manila, and Kuala Lumpur.
- Have a good command of spoken English, as it will be the primary language of communication during the residency. Active engagement with a basic understanding of English will be expected.
