We promote cultural exchange between Germany and Pakistan. We initiate film series, exhibitions, concerts, seminars and festivals which involve bilateral artistic production, reception and reflection.

Science Film Festival 2024

The Science Film Festival 2024 takes place from 1 October to 20 December. This year's theme is the crucial role of the net zero concept and the circular economy in tackling the climate crisis challenges. The Goethe-Institut Pakistan has made 26 topical films available for free streaming. Educational and information materials are being provided to accompany the movies.

Call for applications: Queer Frames Screenwriting Lab

The QueerFrames Screenwriting Lab is returning for its second season. This program will provide six emerging queer writers and writer-directors from South Asia with bespoke training and mentorship to develop their fiction feature projects and gain industry access at Berlinale 2025. Apply now, by 10 October.

Labour in a single shot

The Goethe-Institut Pakistan offers filmmakers and video artists participation in a workshop with instructors Antje Ehmann & Till Passow. The application deadline has now passed. Successful applicants will be informed.

International German Olympics (#IDO2024)

The International German Olympiad (IDO) took place in Göttingen from 15 July to 22 July 2024. The winners of the national competition in Pakistan competed in Göttingen against young people from 50 countries.

UEFA EURO 2024: Men's Football Cup in Germany

From June, 14th until July, 14th, Germany hosted the UEFA's EURO 2024, the European Cup in Men's Football. We took a closer look at the importance of football in Germany, historically, culturally, and of course, in terms of sports. The theme of SSF 2023 is the Decade for Ecosystem Restoration. Partner are the United Nations. The theme is a call to protect and restore ecosystems around the world.
Mentorship Programme for Filmmakers: Film Talents

Discrimination comes from outside – many people think. Yet we all internalise misogyny, argues one author in our topical collection Feminism Today. The women's food cooperative “Kutumb Sakhi” in Mumai, on the other hand, suggests that one way to women's independence might lead through the stomach.
