Participation at
Stockholm ChoirLAB

• Three participants will be selected.
• They will each receive a scholarship of 500 EUR.

No additional costs can be covered. Selected participants are responsible for organizing their own travel arrangements.
 

Goethe-Insitut Schweden and Konstmusiksystrar will review the applications based on the following criteria:

• Practitioners in the fields of choir music, vocal performance, composition, experimental music, or community‑based artistic practice
• Applicants whose main place of residence and artistic work is in Germany
• Relevance of the applicant’s work to the themes of the ChoirLAB
• Motivation to participate and potential for meaningful exchange between the German and Swedish music scenes
• Clear demonstration of the applicant’s ability to participate fully in the program on April
  25-26, 2026

Choir music in Sweden has a long and rich tradition, and for many years the Goethe‑Institut has supported German choirs travelling to Sweden for collaborations and guest performances. This inspired Goethe-Institut Schweden to focus on contemporary choir practice, collective singing and feminist organizing and to reach out to Konstmusiksystrar for collaboration.

Konstmusiksystrar (Sisters in Contemporary Music) is a Swedish association for women and transgender composers and sound artists. Together with Moderna Dansteatern, they presented TusenTungor + DUNKA DUNKA, a collaboration between the choir Tusen Tungorand dancer/choreographer Ellen Söderhult. The project resulted in a performance in May 2025 featuring new musical works, dance, DJ sets, and listening meditations.

The collaboration gave rise to ideas for further exploring the intersections between choral practice and feminist organizing, the theme of the Stockholm ChoirLAB.
