European Diasporic Literary Voices
EUROPEAN LITERATURE DAYS 2025
Diaspora literature—particularly the works of European writers of Vietnamese origin—is gaining growing recognition in both Vietnam and Europe. Their stories, which often explore themes of identity, intergenerational conflict, and the search for belonging, bring fresh and diverse voices to European literature. Beyond offering personal narratives, these writers challenge conventional literary boundaries, expanding the form through fiction, poetry, theater, film, journalism, and multimedia storytelling.European Literature Days 2025 will showcase the significant contributions of Vietnamese-origin writers to contemporary European literature. Over the course of a week, acclaimed authors—invited by cultural institutions and embassies from Germany, France, the UK, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Vietnam—will gather in Ho Chi Minh City, Huế, and Hanoi for a series of discussions. These conversations will explore diverse themes, from the introspective nature of diasporic writing to gendered perspectives in women’s literature.
The event will foster meaningful exchange: Vietnamese audiences and writers will engage directly with their diasporic counterparts in panel discussion and intimate workshops, creating space for interdisciplinary dialogue on craft, identity, and the evolving landscape of literary creation.
