Ly Truc Dung (*1946) studied architecture in Weimar. Since his return to Hanoi, he has been working in the fields of architecture and construction. For thirty years he has cultivated his hobby of caricature and silk painting. His humorous pictures are taken from the everyday life of the Vietnamese people from the time of the command economy, the years of economic reform up to the modern life of today. For laughter and reflection was the first exhibition of Ly Truc Dung with seventy works.

Numerous newspapers and magazines printed his caricatures: Van nghe, Tien phong, Nhan dan, Quan doi nhan dan, Lao dong, Phu nu, The thao & Van hoa (Ly Truc Dung's corner), Tia sang. In Germany, his work was published in the famous satirical magazine Eulenspiegel and in the magazines Für Dich, Freie Welt, Tribüne, Bauer Zeitung, Das Magazin. For his caricatures, he received the prize of the International Biennial of Humor, Cuba 1983; the prize of the International Cartoonfestival Knokk Heist, Belgium, 1984.
