Film
The Edge of Heaven. Von Fatih Akin, 2007.
Drama about the fate of six people who are inextricably linked.
When the lonely widower Ali persuades the prostitute Yeter to move in with him in return for a monthly payment, Ali’s son Nejat doesn’t hide his disapproval. His opinion changes slightly when he learns that Yeter needs her income to support the studies of her daughter Ayten, who lives in Turkey. But then Yeter dies in a tragic accident, and Nejat decides to travel to Turkey to find her daughter. Ayten, however, is a political activist and has fled from Turkey to Germany. There, she befriends the rebellious student Lotte, whose conservative mother disapproves of their relationship. When Ayten is arrested and deported to Turkey, Lotte follows her. In Istanbul, the paths of the six characters finally cross. Only in the face of death they learn what forgiveness means.
